ZERUST® Zeriol™ Float Coat
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
ZERUST® Zeriol™ Float Coat is a non-toxic, biodegradable rust-inhibiting compound designed to provide effective corrosion protection for ballast tanks. Its unique formulation allows it to float on ballast water, depositing a protective coating on adjacent tank surfaces during ballasting and de-ballasting operations. This ensures continuous protection against rust and corrosion, extending the lifespan of critical assets while being environmentally friendly.
TYPICAL ApplicationS
• Ballast tanks
• Cargo holds
• Ship hull interiors
• Water storage tanks
• Offshore platforms
• Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units
• Marine and industrial pipelines
• Dry docks and shipyards
KEY ADVANTAGES
• Non-toxic & biodegradable
• Continuous corrosion protection
• Extends asset lifespan
• Self-distributing formula
• Easy application
• Cost-effective solution
• Versatile use
APPLICATION GUIDELINES
ZERUST® Zeriol™ Float Coat is ready to use and should be applied undiluted. The initial application should form a one-inch (25.4 mm) floating layer on the water’s surface. Severely rusted tanks may require additional volume.
For full tank bottom coverage, drain the tank completely, then pump in ZERUST® Zeriol™ Float Coat to create a minimum one-inch layer. Afterward, spray the overhead plates for complete protection.
Introduce any remaining compound through manholes or access hatches. Run three ballasting cycles with a one-hour pause between each. A properly treated tank should retain at least a ¼-inch (6.35 mm) floating layer when nearly full.
To maintain protection, ballast tanks every three months to reapply the compound where corrosion scale has detached.
