ZERUST® Zeriol™ WUV-25
ZERUST® Zeriol™ WUV-25 is a high-performance corrosion preventive coating that provides long-term protection for steel assets exposed to harsh outdoor conditions. It forms a durable, transparent amber film that dries non-tacky, enabling visual inspection without removal. It delivers effective corrosion protection for up to 2 years† in outdoor exposure and several years† under indoor or sheltered storage conditions, and can be easily removed when needed.
Typical Applications
ZERUST® Zeriol™ WUV-25 is suitable for protecting metal assets across various industries during storage, transport, and layup.
Common uses include:
- Equipment such as compressors, pumps, turbines, and generators
- Pipe spools, skids, and structural assemblies during shipment
- Spare parts and fabricated components like flanges, risers, and brackets
- OEM systems in transit or staging for energy, industrial, or offshore use
- Long-term layup of idle assets, including rigs and decommissioned equipment
- Electrical/control panels and cabinets (if material compatibility is confirmed)
- Structural steel awaiting final coatings or installation
- Valves, wellheads, and appurtenances staged prior to installation
- Temporary protection during maintenance or turnaround activities
Key Advantages
- Long-term corrosion protection - up to 2 years† outdoors
- Transparent, non-tacky film allows easy visual inspection
- Fast, flexible application by spray, brush, roller, or dip
- Easily removed with solvents or high-pressure wash
- UV and weather resistant for harsh environments
- Effective across asset lifecycle: fabrication, transit, storage, layup
- Ideal for critical components like skids, spools, and vessels
- Compatible with preservation and maintenance programs
APPLICATION GUIDELINES AND REMOVAL
-
Surface Preparation: Clean per SSPC-SP1 where surfaces are free of corrosion. Where corrosion or coating breakdown is present, SSPC-SP2 or SP3 may be used for maintenance preparation. For optimal performance, SSPC-SP10 or SSPC-WJ2 is recommended. Light atmospheric flash rust is acceptable if chlorides are not present. Compatible with most cured rust converters and solvent-based topcoats.*
-
Application: Apply between 50-120°F (10-49°C) using airless spray for large areas; brush, roller, or dip application may be used for smaller components.
-
Removal: Wipe small parts with mineral spirits or kerosene after scraping excess. For large surfaces,
use a heated high-pressure wash (>5,000 psi at 122-140°F) with ZERUST® AxxaWash™ NW-10 or
ZERUST® AxxaWash™ KF-122 (pH 10-14) to ensure clean surfaces before coating, hot work, or startup.
