Project Summary

ZERUST^® Integrity Solutions™ was contracted to provide a tailored corrosion mitigation solution for a buried casing. The project required injecting corrosion inhibitor into the annular space through an existing vent pipe, ensuring effective internal protection of the casing environment.

 

Asset & Site Details

• Asset ID: Pipe Casing

• Casing Diameter: 16 inches (≈ 406 mm)

• Pipeline Diameter: 12 inches (≈ 305 mm)

• Length: 80 feet (≈ 24.4 meters)

• Vent Pipes: Two 3-inch (Top and Bottom orientation) (≈ 76 mm)

• Elevation Changes: Minimal

• Weather During Application: 75°F (≈ 24°C), 75% humidity, cloudy

 

Solution Implemented

Products Used
• ZERUST^® Zerion^™ FVS Corrosion Inhibitor Powder
• ZERUST^® Zerion^™ PGH-300 Gel Powder

Implementation Details
• Injected a corrosion inhibitor solution consisting of ZERUST^® Zerion^™ FVS Powder mixed with clean, potable water into the annular space.
• Added ZERUST^® Zerion^™ PGH-300 Gel Powder in-line using Eductor Injection Equipment for enhanced performance.
• Installed 3-inch expandable plugs in the goose neck vent pipe openings to seal the system post-injection.
• Decided not to install corrosion monitoring equipment during this visit.

 

Outcome

The application was completed successfully with minimal issues. The asset is now protected with a ZERUST^® corrosion mitigation solution. Ongoing visual inspections and periodic testing are recommended to ensure continued protection and inhibitor presence within the annular space.
