ZERUST® Zerios™ WES

CORROSION PROBLEM

In industrial, construction, and oil & gas environments, metal components such as structural steel, tanks, and equipment are often exposed to corrosive conditions during lay-up, delayed construction, or storage, especially in non-immersion environments. Traditional coatings may be too slow to dry, environmentally hazardous, or require extensive surface prep and removal before topcoating. There is a need for a fast-drying, environmentally friendly, temporary corrosion protection solution that is easy to apply, compatible with future coatings, and effective in safeguarding ferrous metal assets during idle periods.

SOLUTION - Product Description

ZERUST® Zerios WES is a fast-drying, water-thinned alkyd coating designed for prepared metal surfaces. Its low VOC and corrosion-resistant properties make it ideal for protecting structural steel during lay-up, delayed construction, or prior to top coating. ZERUST® Zerios WES may also be used as a temporary, stand-alone coating to “hold” metallic elements in most non-immersion environments, including drill platform decking, structural steel, architectural elements, idle tooling, and the exteriors of tanks and pipes.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

  • Drill platform decking
  • Structural steel components and frameworks
  • Architectural metal elements
  • Idle or stored tooling and equipment
  • Tank and pipe exteriors
  • Fabricated steel modules awaiting installation
  • Skids, frames, and support structures
  • Outdoor storage racks and bins
  • Construction staging materials
  • Metal parts and components during transport or storage

KEY ADVANTAGES

  • Fast-drying, water-thinned alkyd
  • Low VOC and environmentally friendly
  • Temporary corrosion protection
  • Suitable for non-immersion use
  • Easy application by spray, brush, or roller
  • No removal needed before topcoating
  • Ideal for lay-up and delayed construction

Application Guidelines

Application Guidelines
ZERUST® Zerios WES is best applied using airless spray equipment but may also be applied by brush, roller, or conventional spray. Thinning is not recommended; however, small amounts of water (less than 10%) may be used if necessary.

Environmental Conditions
Apply only when the substrate temperature is between 60°F and 95°F, relative humidity is below 81%, and the dew point is at least 5°F above the substrate temperature.

Read all SDS precautions before use.
