ZERUST® ZerioGuard™ 5
ZERUST® ZerioGuard™ 5 is a soluble corrosion inhibitor (SCI) powder designed to provide reliable protection for ferrous metals during hydrotesting.* When dissolved in water, it creates an alkaline environment that neutralizes acidic species, effectively reducing the risk of flash corrosion. It delivers optimal performance at low concentrations, depending on water quality, protection requirements, and wet lay-up duration.†
*The formulation also provides supplemental protection to copper and copper-based alloys commonly present in mixed-metal systems.
Typical Applications
- Hydrostatic Testing of Pipelines: Protects pipelines during water pressure testing.
- Hydrostatic Testing of Equipment: Applicable to pumps, valves, fittings, and other components made of ferrous metals.
- Suitable for systems containing incidental copper or copper-alloy components
Key Advantages
- Corrosion Protection: Effective prevention of flash corrosion on ferrous metals during hydrostatic testing and short-term lay-up.
- Efficiency at Low Concentration: Works effectively at low concentrations.
- Alkaline Environment: Neutralizes acidic species in water.
- Potable Water Compatibility: Safe for use with potable water systems.
- Cost-Effective: Reduces the need for additional treatments post-hydrotesting, making it economical for short-term use.
- Mixed metal compatibility: Contains corrosion-inhibiting components that provides supplemental protection for yellow metals in mixed-metal hydrotest systems.
Operating Summary
- Mix ZERUST® ZerioGuard™ thoroughly into water. Concentration depends on the length of time the asset will be in contact with the solution, condition of the asset, and quality of the water.**
- Perform hydrostatic testing using the prepared solution as outlined in the Scope of Work. A ZERUST® Field Engineer can be
assigned to oversee the operation. - Dispose of the solution in compliance with all applicable local, regional, national, and international regulations.
**Consult a ZERUST® representative to discuss specific needs.
