ZERUST® Axxanol™ 718-ESS

ZERUST® Axxanol 718-ESS is a ready-to-use, solvent-based electrical corrosion inhibitor spray that forms a thin, water-displacing, non-staining, non-hardening soft film to protect metal and electronic components in environments exposed to humidity and acid gas vapors. The coating provides corrosion protection and light lubrication while maintaining electrical conductivity, making it suitable for use on electronic assemblies, cabinets, junction boxes, connectors, hinges, machinery, and sliding parts. After application, the carrier solvent fully evaporates, leaving a transparent protective film that does not alter component performance. The product is designed for in-service maintenance (power off during application), indoor use, and short-term outdoor exposure, and contains no CFCs or 1,1,1-Trichloroethane. It conforms to key aspects of MIL-PRF-81309H.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

  • Electrical cabinets, control panels, and junction boxes in refineries, terminals, and processing facilities
  • Instrumentation, switchgear, and connectors exposed to humidity and corrosive vapors
  • Valve actuators, hinges, and moving mechanical components
  • Skids, packaged equipment, and MCC rooms
  • Indoor and short-term outdoor protection during operation, maintenance, or shutdowns

Key Advantages

  • Safe for energized equipment (power off during application)
  • Does not affect electrical conductivity
  • Leaves a soft, transparent, non-hardening protective film
  • Water-displacing and humidity resistant
  • Conforms to key aspects of MIL-PRF-81309H

APPLICATION GUIDELINES AND REMOVAL*

  • Apply by spray (aerosol or spray bottle) to clean, dry surfaces
  • Shut off power before application
  • Allow solvent to evaporate completely before re-energizing
  • Typical drying time: ~60 minutes at 70°F (21°C)
  • Remove with mineral spirits and lint-free cloth
